Do You Need a Partner in Life?

When it comes to love, it is but natural that we seek for someone to be our partner in life until we grow old, if possible. With this kind of view, the meaning of ‘No man is an island’ phrase becomes prominent because each of us truly needs a partner in life especially when we are nearing the afternoon of our lives.
Although this maybe true to almost everyone, we cannot deny the fact that there are people who can live alone. Though they have no partners in life, they have a child (or children), or relatives with them and who takes care of them.
But truly, there are people who cannot live alone, or without a partner in life, though there are people around who will take care of them or will treat them as family member.
It actually depends on a person. We can never say it is bad to be without a partner just because it is human nature to love somebody especial. But what if one’s desire to have a partner causes situations that are not normal? That such particular relationship falls as wrong or is beyond what is moral or decent?
What if for example your partner fearlessly deceives you as his partner and do not show respect at all? What if for example your partner does not take care of you and takes you for granted?
Will you still choose to have such a partner just for the reason that you have to have a partner? If you will ponder about it, what use is it to have a partner if you do not have him by your side most of the time?
There is a saying that ignorance is the cause of fear. But in these cases, fear maybe the cause of ignorance. Will you choose to be dumb because you cannot live without a partner?

The complexities of human behavior relies on a combination of different factors...culture, family, personality, etc etc.
Perhaps people who don't want to be alone are afraid of abandonment and loneliness. This fear may generate from childhood or other past experiences they bring with them as they grow older. It could also be peer pressure, or the culture of Filipinos to value company (which is why not many are bookworms. most filipinos hate solitude).
Or maybe it's a matter of human emotion. They chose him or her because of love, no matter how wrong or unfit others see his or her partner.
But indeed, choosing a partner (especially for life) must have thought. He or she must be the right one. :)
Lady_E : that is what makes it sad - putting up with a bad partner. personally, i cannot stand such situation. i believe in equality all the time.

Interesting Hub - Sadly, some people don't want to be alone and choose to put up with a bad partner. In most cases though, they eventually see the light.
How lovely it would be, if everyone in life could find their perfect soul mate......
