Everyday That I Go to Work
64
I wake up at around 7:00 am. I will thank God Almighty because I am still alive. At times, I forget to give thanks. I will have a cup of coffee - strong and not so sweet. I'll have the kettle filled with water and heat it to bubbling because I do not use cold water for my bath. Still a primitive way to take a bath, isn't it? Water ration is scarce at times in the morning and because of that I cannot use a shower and even so, I would not want cold water for my bath.
While waiting for the water to boil, I'll take a peek at my email or my blogs. There were time I come late to work because of this. Hubby scolds me because of this. After getting done and ready to work, I'll hop in the car; hubby will drive me to work.. Sometimes there are neighbors who take a ride with us during these mornings on their way to work. Hubby will always offer the kind act of asking them if they want to ride with us,
Aling Feliza, the owner of that little wet and dry goods store at the corner is up and going by that time. Even the eatery of Kuya* Pen are already open taking orders of food or viand for breakfast and lunch. Along the way, men and women, girls and boys, old and young, are seen walking hastily to work or school or to wherever their feet lead them to. The whole barangay is wide awake. It is past 7:30 in the morning.
Most of the time there is traffic because of the inefficient traffic aides of the barangay. You will notice the pile of people gathered at the barangay. I wonder, do all the people who come out of this office leave with hope? There are already young people playing at the basketball court. Most of the time it is the teens who love to play here. It is here where I see a familiar face here playing. I haven't seen him for a while.
The eatery at the corner that serves tasty porridge is also open. It is located at the highway and open 24 hours. I can see the crocs, I mean the MMDA (Metro Manila Development Authority) aides. Cars, PUJs, buses, taxi cabs and all means of transport race along this highway. I am very sure and this will not fail, when we reach that narrow road to Quirino Avenute, hubby will be mad of those jeepneys parked across that opening of that narrow road. In addition to the annoyance, hubby will observe the traffic aide (which is not an official aide) not doing his work efficiently of controlling the influx of the coming and leaving of cars in that narrow road. Hubby once scolded this man when he made a go sign at him but also did the same at the incoming car at the far end of the narrow road. Hubby has no choice but to retreat.
Reaching the corner of Baesa Road, where a barangay official does nothing but use his cellular phone, I would feel irritation. That son of a gun are not doing his job for the longest time! He was not controlling the traffic. It annoys me thinking that their wages come from the citizenry
After a good-bye kiss, I'll go upstairs to my office. This is when I start to do what I love the most - to work.

Lovely. Thanks for sharing part of your day with us. Mine is similar. I wake up at 7am, but then hide under the covers again for half an hour. lol
Your Hubby is very kind - maybe you could report the inefficient traffic aides to their Manager? Traffic needs to be controlled at peak time.
Well, I wish you continued progress in your work.
Regards, Elena.
