How to Identify Liars
77
It is not easy to identify a liar. It would seem at times that a person speaks about truth. Even your friends and your loved ones can lie to you. Hubby can tell you that there was a business meeting though in truth he was out with his friends, and worse, with another. Liars can be anybody and they are all around.
How then can one identify a liar?
- Take particular notice of the eyes. A person who is lying cannot look directly in the eye. Mannerisms can include uneasiness and the head turning from one side to the other. Experts say that a person who is lying often looks upwards as he is trying to find the words to say, lowers his head as he is trying to feel the emotions, and turns it if he would like to divert to another topic.
- Take particular notice of the voice and the density. When a person is lying, the voice is louder, exaggerated, has an almost single tone, or full of energy. He also has this confidence as if trying to hide what he truly feels. However he tries to appear confident, the tone of the voice cannot conceal. He will eventually become defensive, and the answers to a simple question become irrelevant.
- Take notice if the person is trying to veer from an issue. It is very easy for a liar to change the topic or to be very interested in a topic. It can become very obvious when he tries to be funny, or sarcastic, or critical of other people, too, just to veer away from what the issue is. Instead of answering a question directly, he will give an answer that is totally different from what is being asked. For example, for the question "Where is my laptop?", a liar will answer, "I never use a laptop." That is totally a very different answer from what is being asked.
- Check how he smiles. A fake smile projects something where only the lips are moving while a true smile is one that makes the entire face parts moving, and that includes the many muscles that go with the smile, and also the eyes and the cheek. The expression of the face should blend with what someone is saying.
- Take notice of the lips. The act of lying causes the lips to dry or parch and quiver. Take how often he wets his lips when speaking which is followed by the act of swallowing
These are all suggestions to identify a liar. It is not proven to be fail-safe therefore it really requires a person to be very careful in knowing if one is a liar or not. Before calling one a liar, one has to be very sure of his observations that should be valid and certain.

Yeah your ideas are all tried and tested these are also use in identifying liars in prisons/criminals. Nice hub here...
A little sexist isnt it? you refer to the liar as "he" throughout. Lying isn't a gender thing, it's a human thing. Woman and men alike can lie.
I found the page on Google by accident, so don't know this site. Maybe I've stumbled upon a woman orientated website so refering to the liar as "he" is more fitting to the audience.

Very useful Hub Bingskee. I was so naive when I was young (well I'm still young. lol). I took everyone for their word and it had terrible consequences which I am still paying for now.
